Secretariat clinches the Triple Crown at Belmont Park in this photograph of the 1973 Belmont Stakes. His winning time of 2:24 and his winning margin of 31+ lengths are the benchmark that all great horses are judged by. Secretariat was ridden by Ron Turcotte and trained by Lucien Laurin. Secretariat's three year old season was the greatest run by any horse racing champion in history. During the 1973 Triple Crown season, Secretariat was on the cover of Time Magazine, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated. This was the zenith of horse racing prominence in the eyes of the American public. Gallery of Champions copyright watermark does not appear on the actual photographs.
