Ridden by Steve Cauthen and trained by Laz Barrera, the 3 year old star annexed the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes over his bitter rival, Alydar. The drama of their match-ups culminated in a Belmont Stakes finish that was for the ages, with Affirmed prevailing by a long nose. These photographs are double matted with double matted key ways describing each race as well as a double matted title key way above the photographs.
